This prestigious global prize recognises and accelerates extraordinary efforts to repair and regenerate the planet.
Sea Forest’s remarkable innovation lies in its seaweed-based livestock feed, which addresses one of the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges: reducing methane emissions from livestock farming. The unique aspect of Sea Forest’s product, Sea Feed™, is its ability to drastically cut methane production by up to 90% when incorporated into cattle and sheep diets. This is achieved by using just 0.5% of Sea Feed™, made from the native red seaweed Asparagopsis, in the regular diet of these animals. The significance of this innovation cannot be overstated, especially given that livestock agriculture contributes about 32% of human-caused global methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas.
