Dedicated to supportingand promoting the emerging

kelp industry in Australia.

our missionand purpose

To spread the word on the game-changing benefits of farming and processing kelp and seek engagement with stakeholders.

We are a not-for-profit organisation founded to advocate for and promote the Australian Kelp industry on account of its potential to help reduce the impacts of climate change.

Through industry collaboration, partnership and campaigning, we raise awareness of both Climate Change, and the potential Kelp has in combatting it, as well as the uptake of Kelp-oriented products across a wide range of industries.

why kelp?

Kelp, a species of seaweed, has many amazing attributes and applications. From sequestering carbon at a far greater rate than trees, to reducing cow burps and the impact livestock has on emissions. An ocean paddock of kelp can help change the world! But in order to harness this super weed and tell its story, greater industry and government collaboration and support is needed.

Globally, Kelp farming is taking off. Whilst more advanced in regions such as Korea, elsewhere in Asia, British Columbia and North America, several operations have emerged in Australia, especially in Tasmania, on the South Coast of NSW and the South Coast of Western Australia.

Each have their own set of challenges and Ocean Paddock has been created to act as the conduit to support and promote this emerging industry in Australia.

how to help?

Help us, help our planet! We are working up strategic plans to help support and promote this industry, but we can’t do it alone.

We are also seeking support through donations, link below.

OUR PLAN

Not only does kelp act as a carbon capture by drawing down CO2 from our atmosphere, it is naturally occurring with zero feed requirements (only photosynthesis) and stimulates natural ecosystem re-development by providing shelter and food for biodiversity within the ocean. So many possibilities but where to begin? Well, we’re glad you asked.

Step 1: Identifying Opportunities

Being an emerging industry, there is a range of challenges and obstacles we will have to overcome. Therefore we are constantly identifying where we can add the most value!

Step 2: Developing the Strategy

Once we know where to help, it’s time to figure out how we do this. Our role is to advocate, promote and support the Kelp Industry and this is a moving feast, as we and the industry develop together.

Step 3: Advocacy & Execution

Time is of the essence, so we are moving into this stage as quickly as possible, but not without the right method. Once we're locked and loaded, we'll be making a LOT of noise.
